Seahorse is a kind of precious Chinese medicine with high economic value, which has the medicinal effects of strengthening the body, relieving inflammation and pain, relaxing tendons and activating collaterals. In 2014, Wendeng introduced 100 pairs of seahorses for the first time, taking the first step towards breeding seahorses in captivity. In just three years, the breeding scale of seahorses in Wendeng has reached 400,000, marking the success of factory farming.

Weihai Yinze Biotechnology Co., LTD., located in Zeku Town, Wendeng District, is the first enterprise in Wendeng to carry out large-scale artificial cultivation and breeding of seahorses. When stepping into the company’s seahorse breading workshops, you can see dense seahorses of different sizes floating in the water, in a square breeding pool, pocket-size and smart.

In order to meet the market demand for seahorses, Wendeng actively carries out artificial breeding and breeding of seahorses, and continuously breaks through several key breeding technologies. In 2022, the survival rate of seahorses has increased from 30% to 40% to over 90%, 10,000 pairs of stallion sea horse and 6 million breeding seedlings make Wendeng the largest seahorse breeding base in China.
