前缀 for-

汉：来源于盎格鲁_撒克逊语，意为"way,apart,off"(frbid,forget,forgo),也有ïntensive,very much"(forlorn,forswear)含义。

英：prefix usually meaning "away, opposite, completely," from O.E. for-, indicating loss or destruction, or completion, also used as an intensive or pejorative element, which is related to O.N. for-, Du. ver-, O.H.G. fir-, Ger. ver-. Probably originally in Germanic with a sense of "forward, forth," but with complex sense developments in the various languages. Ultimately from the same root as fore (adv.).

1.forbearance

n.patience,self-control 忍耐，自制

例句：No women could have the forbearance to live with such a man.没有一个女人具有能和那样的男人一起生活的忍耐力。

2.foreiture

n.suffering the loss of something as a punishment or consequence,or because of urles 丧失，没收 *feit (=make,do)

例句：The price of marrying the commoner was forfeiture of the crown.和平民结婚的代价是丧失王位。

3.forgo

v.give up ;do without 作罢，放弃

例句：More and more young people are forging marriage until they are in their mid-30's. 越来越多的年轻人直到三十五六才结婚。

4.forlorn

adj.unhappy;uncared;forsaken 不幸的；孤独的；被踱遗弃的

例句："I don't hav a mother," she said in forlorn voice.“我没有妈妈，”她凄凉地说道。

5.forswear

v.perjure oneself;give up doing or using something 发假誓；放弃

例句：Both sides have forsworn artillery attacks on Sarajevo.双方都决定放弃对萨拉热窝的炮火攻击。
